BAFTA Video Game Awards

Each year the British Academy of Film and Television Arts rewards achievement in the creation video games at its annual Video Games Awards ceremony.

The Awards celebrate the skill and innovation of top talent across the gaming industry - with 2011 seeing the gold trophies going to games such as Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2 and Kinect Sports.

And BAFTA has announced the nominations for this years video game awards, with Batman: Arkham City and LA Noire coming in as the big contenders for the 2012 trophies.

The games have attracted as many as eight nominations each – while the PlayStation 3 hits Uncharted 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2 are competing in six categories each.

This year, the ceremony for the annual awards scheme will take place in London on March 16th.
