One of the most important things business people can do when they're networking is ensuring that their name badges are in the correct place.

That's according to Carole White from Tedco, an organisation that helps new companies get off on the right foot so that they have every chance of succeeding in the dog-eat-dog world of business.

She indicates that you should make sure your name badges are attached to the right-hand-side of your shirt or jacket when you're meeting new people, as their eyes will automatically be drawn there when they shake your hand, meaning there's a better chance of them remembering you.

Ms White also recommends that you should prepare a succinct spiel about yourself and your company, avoid monopolising conversations and don't give out business cards when you first meet someone – if they're interested, they'll ask for it.
